Transformations in Print

Tutor: Kittie Jones. Sketchbooks into Print

  • Starts 26 Aug
  • 500 British pounds
  • Old Moss Road

Course Information

This week will give students the opportunity to consider different ways of gathering information in sketchbooks. Sketches and drawings made out and about will then be transformed into diverse and exciting prints. Sketchbooks will be used as a starting point to work into, making a variety of quick and slow drawings as a way of capturing multiple elements of a scene. These studies will then be referred to, back in the studio, to assist with the creation of a series of prints exploring multiple processes including monotype, relief and intaglio. Time will be spent considering how a playful and exploratory sketchbook practice can feed into a lively, fresh approach to printmaking. During the course of the week we will consider the work of Emma Stibbon, Barbara Rae, Katherine Jones and Kate Downie, among others. *In an effort to reduce our plastic usage, students are required to supply their own Marigold rubber gloves (or similar) in a suitable size for their own use during this course.
