Lizzie Vischer

Lizzie Vischer is a twenty year old art student from near Edinburgh. She recently studied for a year at Leith School of Art doing the Foundation Course and left with a diploma, which helped her secure a deferred second-year place on the Fine Art degree at Duncan of Jordanstone.

The course at Bridge House Art was the perfect opportunity to further develop her skills, and discover which area of the visual arts most excites her. She is now ready to face university head on.

Personal statement

Throughout my childhood I was encouraged to look at my surroundings through an artistic lens, to see shapes, patterns and form. This was where my love of strong dynamic landscapes was born.

Moving to Ullapool and being only a two-minute walk from the harbour has been a dream come true for me, allowing me to study the fascinating passageways and linear shapes and how these interact and communicate with the abounding natural world behind. I love how the strong pattern of the harbour is both strengthened and also slightly muted by the dark silhouetted mountains and how they both work together to make each other stand out.
