Since retiring, Mandy has been interested in the visual arts. Her artistic journey has led her through various media, including drawing, mixed media, and painting.  Mandy enrolled in the Portfolio Course at Bridge House Art, where she has focused on refining her technique and developing a distinctive body of work. 

Personal Statement

Having really enjoyed working with oil paint in my first term at Bridge House Art, I wanted to explore the medium further through still life painting. I found myself drawn to the work of Georges Braque and the Synthetic Cubists, captivated by their innovative approach to breaking down and reimagining form.

In this body of work, I have sought to play with two different languages—realism and abstraction —allowing them to interact and overlap within the same composition.
