Course Information

During this week students will initially spend time gathering information through sketching outdoors. These drawings will become the inspiration for making prints using the diverse and versatile processes of monotype and collagraph. Through combining processes, students will be encouraged to explore line, tone, texture and colour in their work. Kittie will show students how to create prints in various ways – her approach is playful and creative using print processes to explore multi-layered, richly coloured and textured pieces. Many artists use print as a starting point and during the week students will be encouraged to ‘recycle’ unsuccessful prints into mixed media pieces. Artists whose work will be looked at for inspiration will include Degas, Katherine Jones, Bronwen Sleigh and Frances Walker.
