Ideas without end - Sketchbooks
For many artists sketchbooks are fundamental to their practice; ideas, images, writing, gathering, cutting, sticking, and research all take place in them. Bonnard used a small pocket diary to record his daily life, which he then transformed into major paintings; Turner used multiple sizes of sketchbooks for all occasions. Students will choose which size of sketchbook suits their needs and progress with that throughout the week using many ways of recording the world around with a wide variety of media.
The aim of the course will be to help students gain the confidence to use sketchbooks regularly and understand the use of them as visual research tools.
