Painted Construction

Painted Construction

28th June - 2nd July 2010

In this course students will work on mixed media construction sculptures using the surrounding landscape and architecture of Ullapool as an initial source of inspiration. The course will enable students to learn the basics of construction through developing their ideas and drawings from 2d to 3d using plywood, hardboard, cardboard, foam board and collected 'found' materials and objects. Working with general construction techniques of sawing, cutting, drilling, gluing, finishing and sanding.

In the second half of the week these objects will be painted with mixed media materials and treated almost as a 3D canvas, where students can be as expressive as if they were painting on a flat surface aiming to develop a rich variety of surface textures.

No previous experience necessary, just imagination and a spirit of adventure.
