Transformation - a week of landscape collage

22nd - 26th, July, 2019
Tutor: Eleanor White
Course Fee: £370

Fully Booked!

Collaging and assembling an image from many different disparate parts, to create a new and vital image, will be the aim of this course.

During the week, students will take many forms of mixed media on a journey of exploration, beginning in the studio in order to investigate their intrinsic qualities.  The application of liquid materials such as ink and thin paint mixed with mediums and glazes, materials that can give scope for accident and chance, alongside thicker more viscose materials using texture pastes and heavy gels to create surface and texture, will all be explored.

Simple printmaking methods will be utilised therefore providing the opportunity to repeat marks with ease.  Alongside this will be a variety of different weights of paper. Other more random materials are available for the taking to inspire a more substantial piece of work moving away from a regular paper base.

All of this experimentation will be done free from the tyranny of trying to create an image so that you have complete freedom to build a rich pallet of colours and surface textures that will then in turn relate to images gathered from both land and seascapes.

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
