Yes there is still life on the west coast and an exciting life it is too! Come and be part of this new and inspiring course, which will enable you to hone your skills of observational drawing. By engaging with still life installations, combined with a variety of mixed media painting methods, this week-long workshop will allow you to look at still life objects in a new light.

Exploratory work will begin on paper. Using drawing as a way to investigate your subject, we will look at the rhythms of positive and negative shape, tone and texture, colour and form.

When confidence in composition and subject is gained, you will then begin working on a single large scale canvas. This support will  then be worked and developed into a final painting. This course offers a challenging and exciting way to explore still life in a west coast setting. Suitable for all abilities, just come ready to be adventurous!

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
