Fully Booked!

We are delighted to welcome Jemma back to our school programme to lead yet another exciting and inspiring week of working directly from the surrounding landscape. This week-long workshop will look at the power of landscape explored through drawing and painting.  Beginning by making very large scale "monumental" drawings in the landscape, students will look at the sense of scale and physicality required to respond to the dramatic landscape surrounding the village of Ullapool.

Back in the studio, working through a variety of mix media pieces, students will explore how to scale these drawings down into "miniature" paintings that exude a sense of enormity.

We will then discover how to take elements of these tiny pieces back up into the monumental. The resulting large scale, expressive pieces will depict the drama and atmosphere of the west coast landscape.

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
