Journey of Painting - gathering drawings to making paintings

17th - 21st July, 2017
Tutor: Jemma Derbyshire
Course Fee: £360
Fully Booked!

This week will begin with students making their own unique sketchbooks in the studio. We will then venture out to explore the local landscape over the next 2 days, gathering drawings and research information to work from.

Back in the studio, we will take inspiration from the drawings and research material to make a large scale mixed media drawing: which will then be used to make a series of paintings that look at creating a sense of atmosphere, energy and weather though colour, light and mark.

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
