The Alchemy of Mixed Media

26th - 30th June, 2017
Tutor: Nina Morris
Course Fee: £360

We are delighted to welcome Nina Morris to deliver this innovative course. Nina is a former student of Bridge House Art that returned to her homeland of America for further study in Boston. She is returning this summer just to deliver this very special course. During the week, students will incorporate the use of wide and varied media moving away from conventional painting and drawing to challenge and explore different ways of building an image. The supports and bases used on the course to build an image will range from conventional to diverse, using recyclable materials in both two and three dimensions; wood, metal and found objects will all be viewed afresh.

With these exciting bases then comes the ways of enhancing them and redefining their form by interacting with them to honour the beauty that they intrinsically have already or to change them completely and remake and remodel to create a new form and image.

The course will take its main inspiration from the land and sea around Ullapool where students will initially respond to by drawing and gathering material to develop. This course will suits students who like a challenge and also want fun playing with the creative process.
All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
