Painting the Poetic: making and painting a triptych

3rd - 7th July, 2017
Tutor: Eleanor White
Course Fee: £360
Fully Booked!

Gathering memories of place through word and image will be the start to this exciting course.  Sketchbooks in hand, students will visit different locations to seek out the sense of place, what makes it special, what is remembered.

The drawings and written observations will then be developed on return to the studio though various different media to allow for exploration of either an abstracted image to emerge or to refine and distil the observed image, merging both place and memory of place.

Part of the course will be given to learning how to design and construct a small panelled triptych allowing scope to create a personal and beautiful object that reflects each students chosen theme and time spent on the North West coast.

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
