Outside Inside: a painting course

19th - 23rd June, 2017
Tutor: Eleanor White
Course Fee: £360

Fully Booked!

A week-long exploration of the vibrancy of painting in colour in both an expressive and observational way. The course will begin by gathering drawings from the wide open landscape in order to experience the weather, nature and the atmosphere of place.

These drawings will come inside and through a transformative process of combining them with still life set ups we will make the transition from outside to inside. Small Still life installations will be the main focus of the work allowing students to explore both observation and abstraction using a rich and varied palette of colours, surfaces and textures.

A large scale canvas will be the final painting and students will work towards this in the last three days of the course.  Artist’s to inspire us along the way will be Mary Fedden, Winifred Nicholson, Ben Nicolson and  Brian Rutenburgh.

All welcome, beginner or experienced artist alike.

All summer school courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
