The glimpse is fleeting, quick and gone- but often not forgotten. Momentary images can be lasting giving fuel to daydreams and imagination allowing us to linger on an unexpected episode. The glimpse could encompass looking through, a vignette, a fleeting shaft of light, a person walking, a wave as it breaks, the list could be endless.

By using opposites, pattern against plain, extra-ordinary against ordinary, more against less; these opposites will act as a foil to explore the glimpsed image both as an abstract force and as direct observation.

The course will start by drawing in sketchbooks, moving on to experimental printmaking and combining this with painting to create a body of work based around the glimpse.

All courses run from 9.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. All materials and equipment are supplied, with a simple lunch provided daily. It is important to wear old clothes as art is a messy business. Be prepared and dress for the Highland weather, expect sun and rain, four seasons have been experienced in one day! Outdoor, waterproof clothing is essential.
