 £245.00 per couple, per day*

This workshop has been designed especially for 'soon-to-be-weds'.

What could be more romantic than creating your own wedding rings for each other to exchange on your big day?

As a couple, you will enjoy exclusive use of the Bridge House Art Studio for a whole day workshop and receive step by step tuition from Ullapool based jewellery designer, Merlin Planterose.
Merlin will guide you through the measuring, preparing, soldering, shaping and polishing of your unique piece of precious jewellery. Enjoy the alchemy of joining that significantly important band of metal, each one working on the others ring, making something special and meaningful. Thereafter, you will always know that you made each others symbol of your love for each other, no-one else can ever put so much symbolism on a ring.

You can make your rings from silver, 9ct or 18ct white or yellow gold. Each metal is priced according to market value on the day of purchase. Merlin will advise on sizing and order the required amount from the suppliers. You will receive notice of the amount, which will have to be paid in advance of the workshop, in order to have the raw materials for the day. As a guide you can expect to pay about £30 for two lengths of silver to make two rings and up to £600 for 2 lengths of 18ct white gold.

Before the day you will have to make some decisions;

Metal - whether you require silver, 9ct or 18ct white or yellow gold*. Every effort is made to source materials ethically, however, should you require certified recycled materials these are also available. In addition, it may be possible to make new rings from recycled, old or heirloom jewellery, please contact Merlin to discuss these options further or for more information.
* Please note, the cost of the raw materials (metal bar) is in addition to the cost of the workshop.

Hallmarking - this is entirely left to the individual. Silver or gold bar is not automatically hallmarked by the suppliers. If required this can be arranged once you have created your rings and will involve the rings being sent to the assay office in Edinburgh to be stamped.

Profile - generally rings have either a round, oval, D shape or rectangular profile, that is the shape you would see if you sliced the band across-ways. The profile shape is entirely up to you, you can both have the same profile or different. It is worth looking at rings to determine which shape you prefer.

The workshop cost is based on a couple making each others wedding band. If you require a stone to be set, Merlin can do this in her studio after you have made your rings (this will incur an additional charge for the stone and labour cost).

The cost of the workshop includes;
